DESCRIPTION:A fully supported 24 hour ultramarathon in the Croatan National Forest to benefit the Marine Raider Foundation. \nOur goal is simple : Provide a first-class event for all participants. We’ll do everything possible to support you as you work to achieve your goals on this beautiful course. \nParticipants will cover the scenic Tideland National Recreation Trail\, a USATF certified 1.37779 mile loop\, as it meanders through the White Oak River and its adjoining salt marsh and forest. The course includes various bridges (aluminum and wooden) and a well-groomed trail consisting of crushed gravel with minimal trip hazards and elevation gain. \nAwards will be presented for Top 3 Male and Female\, as well as Top Active Duty\, performances and all who complete 100 miles will receive a “100 Mile” belt buckle. \nCome run or walk as much as you like. Our local community in particular has seen the great support provided by the Marine Raider Foundation. All monetary donations from our sponsors and profits from registration are sent directly to the Marine Raider Foundation. Find out more at MARSOCFoundation.org\n\nCourse-Staggered Start \nThe 5k is a TIMED EVENT on mostly paved\, neighborhood roads. The course is subject to change if road construction is not completed in time. By popular demand we have staggered our walkers from our runners. 5k Walkers (35-60min 5k) will start at 8:30am\, followed by 1/2 mile Fun Runners at 8:45am and 5k Runners (less than 35min 5k) at 9:00am. If your training leaves you either faster or not quite at goal pace come race week\, let us know so we can adjust your category. There will be no 1st place prizes for walkers\, this isn’t the Olympics and we don’t have judges to ensure you are keeping one foot in contact with the ground at all times.\n\nRace Shirts \nRegistered 5k participants will receive a race shirt. Additional shirts may be purchased during registration for 1/2 mile Fun Runners or anybody else. Availability of shirts is not guaranteed for registrations after 1Nov.\n\nRaffle \nWe are already seeing some great prizes donated for our raffle. Raffle tickets will be distributed to registered racers. One raffle ticket per registration plus a raffle ticket for each additional dollar donated online. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase (cash or check) during packet pickup.\n\nReferrals \nNew this year is the incentive to refer your family\, friends and coworkers to this race. After successful registration you will receive a referral code. For every new registrant who applies your referral code you will receive $2 credit toward your registration fee and will receive up to a full refund following the race.
