This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join compassionate and committed supporters like you in amplifying the impact of your giving. It’s a day when the world comes together to give back, to celebrate generosity, and to make a difference in the lives of others.  We understand that each supporter has a unique financial situation, and cash donations may not always be the most beneficial way for you to give. Therefore, we have outlined several alternative ways of giving that may better suit your financial circumstances, while still making a significant impact on the lives of our
Marine Raiders and their families.

1. Stocks or Appreciated Assets: When you donate stocks or other appreciated assets, you may be eligible for a tax deduction based on the fair market value of the assets, and you could avoid the capital gains tax that would have been due had you sold the assets. This tax-advantaged strategy makes your donation go further.

2. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you are 70½ years old or older, you may consider making a QCD from your individual retirement account (IRA).  These distributions are made directly from your IRA to a qualified charity, such as the Marine Raider Foundation, and can satisfy your required minimum distribution. The advantage of a QCD is that the
distribution is not included in your taxable income, potentially lowering your income and taxes.

3. Grants from Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): DAFs allow you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund to your favorite charities over time. This
can be an effective way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.  Each of these methods provides unique advantages over cash donations, often allowing you to give more and at the same time gain significant tax benefits.
