In response to COVID19 and the pivot from in-person to virtual events, the Marine Raider Foundation decided to create something that would promote wellness, build a strong sense of community, and sending a powerful message to the Marine Raider community that there are people who deeply appreciate their service and sacrifice.
Realizing that not everyone is into a specific sport like running or cycling, and keeping in mind the health and safety of all, the Foundation focused on a virtual challenge that would welcome anyone willing to use their powerful inner engine to cover 100 miles in their respective hometowns. The result is the Marine Raider Foundation 100-Mile Summer Sundry Challenge, a multi-sport virtual challenge event that spans from June 14th to August 30th. Participants log miles while raising funds and awareness for the Foundation.
Fundraising incentives motivate walkers, hikers, runners, cyclists, swimmers, and runners to invite friends and family to support them through donations. All participants who raise $500 earn an Under Armour custom Challenge t-shirt masterfully created by the very talented Sarah Morgan of Grawlix Ink. Participants who raise the bar and hit $1000 in donations earn a pair of Standard Issue Armed Forces Fuel Cell sunglasses generously donated by event sponsor Oakley. Throughout the 11-week challenge, the Foundation will be drawing one lucky participant for a special giveaway. At the end of the challenge, awards will be given to the Top Three Fundraisers. The Foundation invites everyone to get moving this summer to help Marine Raiders and their families! Registration remains open throughout the Challenge, and there is plenty of time to reach your mileage and fundraising goals!
